The documents that make up this listing start at 1938 with the payment of £1200 from investments going in to the school's charity account. There is also a long and interesting letter from the Berks Education Authority dated August 1939, explaining that in anticipation of a large influx of children to the Shrivenham district, they are proceeding at once, 'with the erection of a new Council Senior School there for 320 children.' We don't know yet what caused it not to happen. There are many other representative documents that give a flavour of how the school operated in that period.
