Bourton School Trust - the later period

The documents in this listing are from the end of the 19th century through into the early years of the 20th. It was when the Tucker dynasty was coming to an end (see Listing N220 for more info) and schooling had been taken over by government rules. There are several legal documents and opinions on the Trustees of the school and how the original endowment money could be used to build the new school.

In this file is an agreement between Cyril Butler and the Trustees of the school for the rental of the School House. It was once part of the rules as Head Teacher to also reside in the house, but since the new school had been built down the hill in Steppingstones Lane, it was no longer the case. The agreement is dated 25th August 1910.

For more information see a 'Schooling at Bourton' which is available in print and also online in Listing No N770.
