The area in Shrivenham historically known as, Tripletts

The purpose of this listing is to note the name of a Locale in the village of Shrivenham. Within the Accounts for the Overseers of the Poor for Shrivenham, from the year 1738, contributions were listed from, 'Estate Late Tripletts.' This would suggest that the owner of an area of land and property (estate), called 'Tripletts'  was lately deceased, and the new owners were being asked to pay. See listing N562 in this catalogue for more context. A century later in 1844, the great Tithe Survey also lists the name off the main street in Shrivenham village, and hence we are able to pinpoint it. This is a rare occurence and so worthy of note for future historians.

The photo attached shows the modern location and the Tithe Map listing can be viewed in this catalogue in N239, Section 6, No 173.
