This listing details a great storm that hit the West and South West on May 1st 1932. The attached article published on May 3rd, in The Western Daily Press, records that heavy rain and flooding occured as far North as Liverpool and had serious effects in Bath and Chippenham. This included the deaths of four schoolboys, who got caught up in the fast-moving waters of the river at Frome.
The flooding also caused the Bishopstone Downs to flood, which was recorded in a postcard made to mark the event, which we have a copy of in our records.
