53 High St, Shrivenham - Part 1

Discovered within the documents at the Berkshire County Archives at Reading, is a document that records the sale of Copyhold property belonging to the Pleydell Estate at Coleshill to Thomas Midwinter in 1739. It also revealed the location of an early School House that was built in 1717. The property went into the hands of the Fairthorne family in 1830 and is recorded separately in Listing No: N71

We don't have any documentation that explains how the Copyhold changed from the Pleydell Estate to Stainswick Manor. It's likley to have happened around the 1780s when many acts of inclosure were being carried out and exchanges taking place.
