Tithe Map of Shrivenham for 1844
There are numerous documents in this file that are relevant to the great tithe survey of 1844. The Shrivenham Map and Apportionment which explains the numbering on the maps, were much copied, traced and drawn over the years by Shrivenham History Society members, and then passed over to the Shrivenham Heritage Society on formation. These seperate files have now all been amalgamated. For the interested researcher there is much to search through in this file, but with the advances in technology much of it will now be in digital format on our Catalogue and online.
A full copy of the Map and it's associated Apportionment can be seen read and downloaded by going

The original explanation of what a Tithe map is we have left as the lead photograph. We believe it was made by the late Edith Jeacock, whom we thank along with Mervyn Penny and all those members who worked without the technology we enjoy today. There is also a small area of the tithe that was concentrated on Hazell's Lane and we have put that in as a seperate feature.
Courtesy of the former RMCS Library and Rachel Daniels, we also have the 1843/4 Tithe Map explained in sections, whereby the village of Shrivenham has been divided into map sections, and those sections have a seperate key explaining the owners and occupiers.
