In 1979 The Education Department in Oxford discussed with Head Teachers the possibility of introducing a scheme of self - evaluation for all State Schools.
A format for this scheme was decided and an information booklet produced to help head teachers to present information in an organised fashion.
Reports would be produced every four years and the first report written by the head teacher was due for completion during Autumn 1981. This was to be given to the School Governors for approval before sending to the Education Department. Mrs O’Brien, headmistress of Longcot School supported the scheme and produced a very thorough account of the school. To see this click HERE
In November 1981 Mrs O’Brien met with the Members’ Evaluation Panel in the Education Department and subsequently received a favourable, detailed letter from the Chief Education Officer, Mr T.R.P. Brighouse commending her effort. Click HERE to read the letter.
In 1989 Mr John Kent, headmaster produced another report, beyond this there is no further correspondence. To read this report please click HERE
The reports are interesting accounts of running a primary school.
