In 1717 the first school in Longcott was built from voluntary subscriptions. The small building was a school for boys, the sons of farmers who paid one penny per week to attend.
Situated in the south west corner of the churchyard it was used until 1874 when the new school in Kings Lane was opened.
It was used as a church meeting room until 1954 when it was demolished and the stone reused for enlarging the church wall.
