Listed within the indexes of the National Archives there are documents from the Court of Chancery that show Shute Barrington, the Bishop of Durham, involved in a legal case of possession of a legacy left in a Will. Shute Barrington was the youngest son of John Lord Viscount Barrington (1st) of Beckett, Shrivenham.
