There appeared in the Berkshire Chronicle dated 22/9/1832 the following Death Notice: On Monday last, at Shrivenham, Mr Dawson, for many years steward to Lord Viscount Barrington, and brother to Mr Dawson, the Australian Traveller. This was Joseph Dawson who took over as Steward to the Beckett Estate in 1825 when his brother Robert left for Australia. Joseph b.1781 was buried in Shrivenham churchyard on 24/9/1832, aged 82.
