Although the booklet is not dated, we believe this archaeological assessment was carried out circa 1999. Those involved were Bernard Phillips, Rosemary Boon and Christine Hinton. Water Mills were once common place across the country as a whole, but the arrival of Steam in the 19th century saw a rapid decline in their use. This investigation was to try and prove that a mill once stood at the location at Hinton Parva and what it was called. The Lidar image would strongly suggest that there were buildings and water management at that location. We also have an entry in the 1851 census that shows, 'Thomas Hatt at Hinton Mills, Hinton Parva.'
